The forum software that runs RSOF is closed source and a Jagex property.

What you want is to open this same software to 3rd party developers? This won't happen if Jagex will not opensource the software.

Besides, this old software needs to be totally be decommissioned in favor of a more modern one either programmed from the ground-up by Jagex internally or just adapt an open source forum software.

First off, he's asking to bring in some more people or third parties to develop forum software. He said nothing about open source so idk where you got that from. Besides, jagex is already bringing in third parties in the form of local moderators to try and liven up the place.

Secondly... even if jagex did make these forums open source, I don't think anyone would want it...

How can 3rd parties see the code if they aren't open source then..... Not unless those 3rd parties sign a non-disclosure agreement with Jagex to be given a privilege to see the closed sourced forum code.

That is why I brought-up open source possibility for RSOF forum code, which I don't think will be happening if Jagex continues the current path.

The software would still belong to Jagex. Whether a third party or not interacts with it doesn't suddenly make the code open source. Besides, if a third party seeing the code is such an issue, maybe Jagex could hire some blind people to code :)

I brought up open sourcing, because I want to see the coding as well. Jagex will not give access to the codes unless a person signs an NDA and he/she is an employee with the task of maintaining the forum software.

Again, I said that was my personal take. Why nitpick it to this level, Stoat?

Allowing 3rd parties to look into the code, and letting them develop it I don't think in this period of RSOF history that Jagex will allow such.

So as a counterproposal, I mentioned open sourcing. You don't need to be too antagonistic to my opinion.
