RS companion login issue

I am running the app on Android 6.0 on an Acer Liquid Zest Plus.

When an update has occurred since the last login, which seems to occur more or less daily, the app gives me one of a couple error messages, either "RuneScape has been updated, please reload this page!" Or "RuneScape client token error, please reload this page!" Which forces me to log in again.

If I understand correctly, the app is really just loading a web page (though not being an expert on apps, is this any different than other similar apps?) But to me this is far from an adequate excuse. My computer does not make me log in twice and I am not too pleased about it on the phone. Especially with how long my password is.

To clarify: launching the app after the game has been updated always prompts a log in. This is fine, but then after typing it all in and clicking login, I receive an error message and must do it all a second time. The first time I'm fine with, security is good, it's the second time in a row that pisses me off.

Your frustration is certainly understandable. I just tried the app myself and I don't seem to be having any trouble with it, but this is a few days after your post now so are you still having trouble?

One thing to note going forward is that upon release of RuneScape Mobile, which essentially negates the need for and effectively replaces the companion app, the current companion app will be discontinued. That said, it doesn't sound like there's too much development time being spent on the companion app at this time.

I'm not too sure exactly what all is included with the companion app, but I would think that it must necessarily be more lightweight than the Runescape Mobile app. To me it would seem rather short-sighted to remove support for and development of the companion app which is all many players want out of their cell phone Runescape experience. For those with older or slower phones this will be doubly so.

Thanks for the reply. As for whether it still happens, it does. The Client Token error was the one I got just trying it now.
