Why do we allow threads to be bumped when there's no more discussion value left or no one's interested in the threads topic, it's ran its course?

It maybe the owner or someone completely different doing the bumping, but that's all we see - Bump .... bump .... bump ... no discussion just bumps.

What about threads where the owner has abandoned the thread, you still see her/him posting and making more threads around RSOF which are often without his/her input <- but these threads keep getting bumped even though the discussion has since left.

I'm sure you have all come across these threads - should something be done about it?

Once a thread has ran its course shouldn't it be left to the sticky instead of constant bumps?

Threads that service the community can get a sticky, if you look around the forums and even since the Lmods have returned a lot more help threads are being stickied <- this could be a solution for some threads.

But there are threads out there that have no need to be bumped, there discussion value has gone, bumping them to keep them on front page is pushing topics away which are popular and still being discussed. The op often isn't even bothered with the thread. If the op isn't maintaining a thread which I believe is important part of thread making/ownership and there is no justification for it, why keep bumping it?

If the op is constantly around the forums making threads and posting on others threads not his/her own, her/his own thread discussion value has ceased why should those threads be constantly bumped by other/s?

If anything, they need to bring back the no gravebumping rule.

If the topic becomes important in the future the thread can be remade, we don't need to keep bumping Threads to keep them available in the future.

If there is no justification for thread why keep bumping them? They are pushing the more worthy, popular threads, those that are/have discussion value in the now further down the forum.

The service/help threads why can't they be stickied? Some forums such as the Community one is for information; page two for discord servers won't hurt anyone and it may stop random threads ending up in there.

I'm not asking for bumping to be banned, far from it. I'm not asking for information threads or clan threads to be stopped from bumping. I'm asking for discussion threads that have no discussion value, no topic value happening to be stopped being bumped continuously as it's not fair for the topics in the now. The forums are already quiet. Let's keep the discussion valued threads at the forefront and the threads that are dead, the posts are just full of bump posts to be locked or let them be - stop bumping them. You can always make them again <- these threads often the owner has already abandoned them. I feel moderators need to be able to see if a thread is being overly bumped just to keep it on first page with no discussion value being had - this is for discussion based threads.

Make the forums look attractive, having bump threads is not an attractive look. Have helpful threads stickied make the forums attractive!!

I still often see fmods locking gravebumped threads. So maybe it depends on the situation on why the thread was bumped??

I just feel threads should not be gravebumped at all - if there's a thread you're interested in you maybe could apply to FH with a good explanation as to why this topic should be reopened or remake a new thread on the topic. I just feel with all the 'bump' posts it's not doing any favours to RSOF. I find it rather unsightly and spammy.

I think the bigger issue is that there's just 50 pages of threads and they go back soooo long, it's easy to gravebump. Maybe if things were
autolocked past page 10
it would solve the issue, get a mod to unlock it if necessary.

Something to think about if a forum rework happens, but up until then I don't think it's a major issue. Bump posts themselves are a bit annoying, could be lightened up by letting people bump other's threads once a day like I proposed.

What a fantastic idea!

Thank you Miu :)
