Just had confirmation from a CM that we are never allowed to remake locked threads.

Original message details are unavailable.
Do not remake locked threads that were locked for a reason.
All threads that are locked are locked for a reason, so it's clear that we are never allowed to remake a thread that has been locked. Just thought I'd let everyone know!
Please remember that the forum is not for debating. It is for echoing views only. If you see someone opposing someone else's views, please report this so it can be dealt with.

That's not true, if the thread was locked for no reason you can remake the thread.

How could a thread be closed for no reason? Provide an example (theoretical or otherwise).

I don't know but it's pretty clear that it can be remade under those circumstances.

It could only happen if forum mods lock for no reason. There should always be a reason for a thread being locked. I have faith in the f mods so I believe that they wouldn't lock a thread for no reason. Do you think otherwise?

I have seen a forumer request for his thread to be locked because he received replies that he didn't like, and immediately recreate the thread with the exact same thread topic.

And I have also seen a forumer remake a thread because the Forum Moderator said on the previous thread that he could remake it if he made certain edits to his opening post.

These are the only two scenarios under which I have witnessed a locked thread being remade.
But those threads have also been locked for a reason, so this is a direct contradiction to what the CM has said.

Exactly.

Ive always lived by the rule that you shouldn't do something unless you've gotten permission to.
Could you post where you received permission to post that exact comment, lol.

After you show me where you got yours.
Lol, can't take a joke? Anyway, I don't seek permission for everything I contemplate doing. Sounds like a crazy way to live your life tbh.

If you don't post garbage threads that need to be locked all the time, you won't encounter this issue in the first place.
That's why I have never posted a garbage thread :)

This was a PSA for people like yourself :)

^ I've seen fmods telling OPs that it's their responsibility to direct the thread they have created.

When the first reply and the subsequent 3 pages of the thread are not directly addressing the topic and the thread has turned in to something it was never supposed to be and OP has lost control and is unable to direct the thread as required I think that it's fine to have the thread closed.

I think that it's OPs responsibility to "iron out" the misdirection in the new thread, in the OP. And if they were to copy paste the thread that went off the rails last time, it's almost destined to go off the rails again. But that's on OP and not the fmods to direct the thread and try to keep it on track.

I think whether the OP contributes to the derail or not plays a bigger factor than derailment itself. If the OP goes away for a few days and returns to 3 pages of bickering, that can be easily hidden. If the OP actively flames or contributes to the derailment, then usually that's a valid reason to have the thread locked.
That's like saying that distracted driving players a bigger role in causing car crashes than going 5km/hour over. True, but that's not relevant. People can cause crashes by going 5km/hour over the limit. Threads can be locked due to misdirection in a thread not contributed to by the OP at all.

Tron, we've just had confirmation that what I said is correct. What Miu said is undeniably irrelevant and we have now proven that. Please remember that the forum is not for debating.
