I have seen a forumer request for his thread to be locked because he received replies that he didn't like, and immediately recreate the thread with the exact same thread topic.

And I have also seen a forumer remake a thread because the Forum Moderator said on the previous thread that he could remake it if he made certain edits to his opening post.

These are the only two scenarios under which I have witnessed a locked thread being remade.

But those threads have also been locked for a reason, so this is a direct contradiction to what the CM has said.

There is no contradiction at all, in fact, you are a first-hand witness of an option to repost the same threat topic that was locked. It is a judgement call of the moderator if such option will be granted to the thread author of a locked thread. Case-to-case basis.

Threads that are remade after a moderator lock are not necessarily made in defiance of the forum rules and/or moderators. I have remade several threads because the first thread was locked because of bad behaviour within the thread and in the second thread I have stated in the opening post for the type of behaviour that is expected <- or something to this line. Often the second thread has gone well, not always though sadly; I don't believe I have given a thread the third go.

If a moderator has stated don't recreate this thread <- you don't and if you do yes that is being in defiance of the forum rules and moderators.

I have also asked FMR if I can recreate a thread over the years and at times they do say yes, but I have also sadly had a no's :|

Just had confirmation from a CM that we are never allowed to remake locked threads.

Original message details are unavailable.
Do not remake locked threads that were locked for a reason.
All threads that are locked are locked for a reason, so it's clear that we are never allowed to remake a thread that has been locked. Just thought I'd let everyone know!

Perhaps he could've worded it better, but most of us here know that it's contextual.

There are cases when Fmods have urged the OP to remake a thread. It depends.

Paraphrased from a mod:

"This thread has been locked due to the OP neglecting it; however, if the OP would like to remake this thread, and pay more attention to it this time, they are welcome to do so"

it isn't exactly what they said, but it's basically the same thing.

The quote that the OP is referencing was intended to be a response to the OP of that topic in question, regarding that topic specifically, not a general blanket statement about how a locked topic can never be remade.

As people have pointed out, remaking threads depends largely (if not wholly) on context and is looked at on a case-by-case basis.

For example, there was a thread locked recently that discussing an idea for game content, but also flaming a player as part of the thread (the title and main argument including flaming references to a player).

The thread was locked and the player was told they could remake the thread in question if they left out the flaming content.

You can be fairly certain that if a thread is locked and there has been no comment left about how the thread could possibly be remade to adhere to the rules, that you should not remake that thread until you have posted in the Forum Moderation Review thread about it, and explicitly gotten permission from a JMod to remake the thread in question.

Just so new users are aware of this rule, can you point out where the "do not recreate locked threads" rule is?

@Nex - it stands to reason that if your thread was locked for being against the forum rules, remaking that exact thread again would obviously also be against the rules.
