Hello all,

Can someone please explain to me as to why anchovies, a level 15 fishing unlock, give the same XP as the level 1 foods such as beef, chicken, shrimp, and not 70 cooking XP each as with Trout which is also unlocked at level 15.

Does it have anything to do with the possibility of making anchovy pizzas with them?

Does it have anything to do with the health each item heals?

Regardless, it irks me a bit thinking of all the possible cooking XP lost simply due anchovies not providing the same cooking XP as trout even when requiring the same fishing skill to catch.

Please help me in understanding the reason why this is so since I will feel bad for the wasted XP if I cook them when they deserve a higher cooking XP rate; and if it is adequate for anchovies to only grant 30 cooking xp each as the basic foods, as well as your thoughts on this conundrum.

Thank you so much - MBR

Its just a leftover from when levels didn't match or make sense.

Plus I think you posted on the wrong forum since you seem to be talking about Old School and this is the RS3 forum.

Oh i didn't even realise about that, ill post this on OSRS forums then.

If it is a remnant from when it didn't make sense, then do you know of anyway to get Jagex to increase the anchovy cooking xp then?

Thank you.

lol @ getting Jagex to do anything.

Besides, it's working as intended. Anchovies only need Lvl1 Cooking to cook, even if they need Lvl15 to fish. XP is comensurate with required level (generally), so you get the same XP as any other food that requires level 1 to cook. It's not the only such case in the game.

Thread moved to the Old School RuneScape General Forum
:)

It is also worth noting that the wiki linked to in the first post is not the official wiki.

Okay, I understand better now, thank you all. :)

Since the level required for cooking is indeed 1 even if anchovies are unlocked at 15, as the official wiki says, it makes sense and is understandable after all.

Whilst we are talking about cooking and seeing as I am mass fishing anchovy and shrimp at the moment... I would love to be able to make shrimp pizza just like anchovy pizza even it ends up being just the same as meat pizzas (both level 1 foods on plain pizza) but visually different.

I enjoy RP'ing as a chef but in F2P my options are quite limited and I would definitely enjoy more variety in the foods we can create.

Please do voice your opinions and thoughts on this idea.

I quite like the idea of a shrimp pizza with the same level requirement as regular meat pizzas and the same stats (exp per pizza, health restore). Right now shrimp are basically dead content after your early levels. It'd be cool to use them at higher level cooking as well. Basically just a fish meat version of the meat pizza, but unique from anchovy pizza.
A very special snowflake.

Exactly! It would be a nice touch of flavour (pun intended) I believe. After all, there are so many kinds of pizzas weird and wonderful in the world.

Overall having more foods even if just different visually to other mid or higher tier foods would spice up the cooking scene, especially for F2P, as we don't have anything close to gnome cooking like members do, and would help out foods no longer viable by mid to high-level players such as bread or shrimp.
Maybe apart from shrimp pizza, one may also use herring or sardine, also forgotten foods and pretty much dead content for any non-beginners.

Garlic bread could also be a thing, or potato wedges - putting to use the many vegetable patches found in the F2P world. P2P can make 6 different combos with a potato - all F2P players can do is bake them, not even slice them and create crisps (chips).

It sure would be awesome to chop up some garlic and add it to a pizza (F2P cannot access chopped onions nor garlic amongst other things), or other toppings such as cabbage or bananas (Banana pizza does exist after all) and whatever other combos one can think up of.
Add some mushrooms to the back of Draynor Manor where it is spooky and fitting and let us create a mushroom pizza (how they are not content yet I have no clue), now that would be fun!
The RS world would feel so much more alive and interactive - more realistic especially if said things were implemented. No longer will we never come back to the cabbage patch or potato garden, nor will we run past the garlic crops as we will have reasons to return for them, especially if different effects other than health recovery occur ( slight boost to run speed perhaps?), which would definitely liven up gameplay, especially for ironmen who cannot use G.E. and will be able to rely on other sources than the same old boring fish they've been fishing for 2 weeks already.

F2P cooking is very limited, and for now, shrimp pizza is a good start to change this.

Let's make this happen!
