Do you know why the classical Plague Doctor uniform has that long beaked mask? It’s so the doctors could fill it with herbs and spices to hide the smell of all pus-filled groin buboes and fetid corpses! Oh sorry, you weren’t eating, were you?

Now you too can get in on the bacterial pandemic action with our new Plague Doctor set, which is available through a new Task Card! Kicking off on October 25th (00:00) and running until October 29th (23:59), there will be 16 tasks to complete, with four levels of prestige and brand new tasks.

Your reward for your efforts will be the assorted parts of the new Plague Doctor outfit. These include a staff and syringe, along with rest, walk and teleport animations. We’ve put a lot of thought into the names of these items, too, which draw upon the somewhat grubby history of Plague Doctors throughout the ages.

Also note that stickers can be won on Treasure Hunter (and obtained from the Plague Doctor himself) that allow you to skip tasks. Any stickers won after completion will instead function as Prismatic Stars.

Not gonna lie, the concept art looks incredible, and the preview seems like it has been developed to the game pretty nicely as well...

...however, as always when a cosmetic promo is held on Treasure Hunter:

Cosmetics do not belong to Treasure Hunter; they should be placed to Solomon's store if you really wish to further monetize them beyond just membership.

The tasks weren't revealed on the news post, but I can only imagine that they'll be too grindy for the average Joe to bother earning it in full, encouraging predatory gambling in Treasure Hunter.

Please show that you care about the players, and at the very least put the cosmetics to Solomon's store instead. Cheers! > )

Hope it doesn't have some stupid high level tasks like last time.

Doing five Fight Kilns over the course of the event is stupid.

Been at 90+ earned keys for several weeks now, this promotion might be worth using them on.

I hope that the tasks won't be ludicrous.

Cool looking Plague Doctor set. How long did it take to make that?

Disappointed to hear it's from a Tasks Event. Really hated those since they are either very grindy/time consuming to complete or cost more than they should in the form of Treasure Hunter spins.

I'm in agreement with Blackwing about this that cosmetics should not be on the Treasure Hunter in it's current form and should be put in Solomon's Store.

From a consumer perspective, Solomon's Store is far superior for a few reasons:

1.) Cosmetics are available to obtain all the time.
2.) Cosmetics can be obtained directly, $->cosmetic items.
3.)Cosmetics can obtained indirectly in form of gold pieces->bonds->runecoins->cosmetic items.
4.)Cosmetics have a set price that consumers are aware of.

Even if Jagex wanted to promote specific pieces of cosmetics for players to earn for in an alternative way for a limited time than 2 and 3 above, they could still do that anyway.

Although at the end of it all, I'd probably still not pay direct even in SS.
Most other players probably are the same way.
And that's one of the core struggles of Jagex and Runescape's monetization model.

Also, I just realized the bird looks stiff in the gif picture and feel slightly annoyed by it.

That's a good summary of it, thank you.

That's my biggest gripe with the actual cosmetic as well, and the same issue is with wings in general too, sadly.

I really really hate these stamp card task promo thingies very much. I think I only managed to do like.. 2 or 3 of em out of.... 8 or 9? Anyway they've gotten old and were annoying from the get go, so now it's extra terrible.
At least the outfit looks nice.

So, how long until we see Solomon at the Jobcenter?
Fullblown non-playing lurker since 26/06/17. May come back if both the devs and the MTX team get their bloody act together.
