RuneScape Companion Bank Checker & Future Updates

As some of you have already noticed we’ve updated the RuneScape Companion web app with a new Bank Checker feature. This allows you to see what items you currently have stored in your bank, and lets you check the current GE value of a tradeable item and its recent GE history.

Although this update is a relatively small one, it’s an important addition to the RuneScape Companion, as it acts as a stepping stone towards our next release: full GE support for buying and selling items via the app (including the Bank PIN system). This is the first time that you will be able to control trade outside the game, and we’re really excited about its release.

We’re aware that this will raise a lot of questions from the community: specifically about whether the Bank Checker could be exploited to gain an unfair advantage in the game, and security. We’ve looked into these aspects a great deal but are keen to hear your feedback, questions, and potential concerns so we can address them now, before the feature is released. With this in mind, there’s a dedicated post in the Companion App forum that we’re keeping a very close eye on.

We’d also like to thank you for your feedback on the Companion App to date, and we'd like to address some of your most frequently asked points:

Firstly, Windows Phone support. This is something we’re going to look into, but we can’t promise anything just yet. We’re not sure if the browser used in Windows Phones can support the necessary web features for the Companion App.

Secondly, when the RuneScape Companion will be available to download from app stores. We have a working (but not finished) version of the app for iOS, but not yet for Android. Once the Grand Exchange feature is released, this will be the next thing we work on. We’re looking to include Push Notification support for completed GE transactions, too!

Thanks for your time. We look forward to hearing your feedback on the Bank Checker and on our upcoming new features.
