Throughout this week we'll be revealing the nominees for each of the seven categories featured in this year's Golden Gnome Video Awards. Seven categories? Yes, it turns out there's just too much talent out there to cram it all into six categories so we've sent SteveW back in to the mine to recover enough dwarven gold to forge one more Golden Gnome. Today we're announcing two categories. So, without further ado, let's kick off with the GGVA for Best Use of Sound.
The sound in a video isn't always the first thing that a producer thinks about, but in these videos the sound really brings the films alive and is an integral part of what's on offer. The nominees up for Best Use of Sound use very different techniques, but both really bring their videos alive with some excellent audio stylings.
And the nominees for Best Use of Sound are:
"Stoke" and "Dale of Hope"

Next up is the GGVA for the Best Use of Effects.
Adding an effect to a film isn't too hard in itself, but using the right effect at the right time in a way that genuinely adds something to the final production is a skill to be mastered. If this year's entries are anything to go by, then it looks like this is a skill that RuneScape's video makers have licked.
And the nominees for Best Use of Effects are:
"Nozferatu" and "SundownRaven"
