Ava's alerter is a reward from the Do No Evil quest, and an upgrade for Ava's accumulator. It attracts most of a player's used ammunition back into the arrow or weapon slot and randomly generates steel arrows directly into the arrow or inventory slot. This item also can attract random metal materials. The generation rate is about one steel arrow, knife or dart every 180 seconds.
The alerter has a higher armour rating and ranged critical chance than the accumulator. It also has the ability to detect buried metal crates - the undead chicken clucks to indicate a nearby crate, clucking more often as the player moves closer. During the quest, this ability is used to dig up a series of crates that fell off a magic carpet, but it can also detect an elite clue scroll buried in a specific location - there are several possible places to search, but only one will have the scroll.
