Cancelling a recurring subscription payment

Cancelling a recurring subscription payment is very easy to do. We always encourage members to cancel ongoing recurring subscription payments themselves, providing you with complete control over your finances.

Before you cancel it is worth considering just how much you lose by reverting back to just the free-to-play worlds.

If you still want to cancel then don't worry, this is really simple to do.

Credit/Debit Card

If you know the password of your account, simply go to the cancellation page and follow the on screen instructions.

If you don't know your password, go to the by card page to cancel using your recurring subscription payment details. Please note that for security purposes, the details you provide on this form must match those that you entered when you started your recurring subscription payment with us.

PayPal

You can cancel your recurring subscription payment by selecting 'Profile and Settings' from the Account section at the bottom of the RuneScape website, and selecting the 'Membership' options after you have logged in.

You can also cancel your recurring subscription payment using your PayPal account and simply cancelling the ongoing payment from being collected.

Boku/PayByMobile/Text message

Boku will send you a text each month to confirm each payment, when you want your membership to end simply type 'STOP' or END' as your reply instead of 'Y'.

If you have any problems cancelling your recurring subscription payment you can contact our Billing Support Team to help you. Please always ensure you explain why you are cancelling as we may be able to help fix any problems you are having.

Refund Policy

We are happy to review requests for refunds on a case by case basis. Refunds are not always possible to give for many reasons, so have a read of these points below.

We will not refund when:

  • A player has been the victim of in-game scamming, as there are many warnings about avoiding this on our website. We will, however, do everything we can to assist players to recover their accounts.
  • A player has been banned from the game for violating the terms and conditions of use, including the Rules of RuneScape.
  • A player has paid using PayByCash as when making a PayByCash payment for a RuneScape subscription, you agreed that: “No refunds can be offered for unwanted membership and membership cannot be transferred between accounts.”
  • Membership has been used in part, even for a short time, for the month which you are requesting a refund.

If, after reading the above, you wish to request that we consider a refund, then please contact Billing Support for assistance, providing as much information as possible.

Please note, refunds are given at the discretion of Jagex.
