Cave horrors can be found in the vast Mos'le Harmless dungeon, located East of The Mos' le Harmless pirate settlement, around the water. You need to complete the Cabin fever quest to access the island and have at least level 58 Slayer to harm these monsters. You must also equip a Witchwood icon and have an active light source as all areas of the dungeon are dark. Cave horrors have a special attack that massively reduces the ALL of the players stats, similar to the Banshee and Basilisk, but the effects of this attack are completely nullified when the witchwood icon is worn. As such attempting to fight a cave horror with no icon equipped can be considered somewhat suicidal, although some players enjoy tempting fate and training on these creatures with ranged attack methods in order to avoid the icon requirement.

Cave horrors are upper-intermediate level slayer tasks, and can be quite lucrative to kill. Among their most notable drops are the highly sought after black mask (10) and torstol seeds. One very important thing to note about these creatures is that they attack with magic-based melee, the same as bloodvelds. As such, your defense stat against these creatures is based on your magic and defence levels, as well as magic defence rating of your gear. Standard melee gear will have almost no stopping power against their attacks.

Combat training

Cave horrors can be a good monster to train your combat skills on. They are very weak to Slash and Ranged attacks, so consider bringing a weapon which will exploit it's weakness such as the abyssal whip, dragon scimitar, or crystal bow.

One way to increase your e efficiency as you slay these monsters is by using Bones to Peaches magical tablets (or the spell if you have unlocked it), with which you can transform collected bones into edible peaches. This will reduce the time spent going to a bank for food.

Healing familiars work even better, but require a high Summoning level before they can be used. Bring several pouches, multiple scrolls (if the familiar requires them) and some Summoning or Super restore potions in order to stay for longer periods of time.

Recommended gear for mid to high levelled players:

  • Helmet of neitiznot
  • Karil's top
  • Karil's skirt
  • Dragon boots
  • Highest-graded gloves you can buy from Recipe for Disaster quest
  • Dragon defender
  • Abyssal whip
  • Any cape
