The welcome area is, as the name suggests, where you, your clanmates and your visitors are welcomed into your Citadel. Avalani will be there to greet you, and can give you a handbook which will tell you more about your Citadel and how to customise it.
As well as the tent - which classes as a meeting room, in that it can be set to private and public - and The Artisan who can help you customise your citadel, there are two main features within the welcome area:
On the signpost, clanmates can set other clans as enemies or friends. Clans will be able to set up transport links between their Citadel and others.
The permission for editing the information on the signpost is in the clan settings interface, which can be found on the clan chat tab of your side interface. There are also permissions for who can view the signpost on the same interface. These permissions can only be set while in the Citadel.
You are able to set 'relationships' using the signpost, which allows you to keep a log of all clan friends and enemies. Click to add a relationship and you will be asked to input a name of a clan. There will be a short delay as the system searches for the clan and the information is retrieved, then the signpost interface will reopen. All new relationships will start as neutral. The relationship can be modified using the 'Settings' tab, as seen on the top-right of the image above.
The details of the relationship can be viewed via the 'Details' tab, after clicking on one of the relationships. Note that only those able to edit the data will have the 'Details' and 'Settings' tabs visible.
A relationship on this interface may also feature a teleport icon. Clicking on this will teleport you to that clan's Citadel (should they have one).
The noticeboard is available in the Clan Camp and in the welcome area (outside of the Citadel walls). Here, you can view the logo and the colours of your clan, a message to the other clanmates, and details of any organised events, amongst other things.
If you are a member of the clan which owns the Citadel, you will be able to view the noticeboard. If, in addition to this, you are of the appropriate rank set in the Clan settings interface, you will also be able to administrate the board from here.
The clan noticeboard also displays your 'primary target' - the resource which is the focus for you and your clanmates - set on the resource tab of the citadel interface.
