The Classic cape is a cape of distinction and can be obtained (along with the Classic hood) only by players that have access to RuneScape Classic. The cape and the hood are bought together from Iffie at Thessalia's Fine Clothes (in Varrock) for 50,000 coins.

It can also be stored on a cape rack built in a costume room at the player's house. However, the hood is required to be stored along with the cape - they cannot be stored independently.

The Classic cape offers an emote which can be displayed by activating the Cape emote in the emotes interface. The emote shows the player's character thinking about a rune hatchet. The style of the thought bubble, and its contents, mimic the graphics used in Classic for players taking action.

The cape's emote is able to be used in free-to-play worlds, although the cape is only obtainable on members servers.

Since Jagex has stated that RuneScape Classic will no longer be re-opened to allow new players [1], the Classic cape is essentially a discontinued item.

Originally the cape's emote showed either a rune hatchet, a rune arrow, or a rune bar - the item being chosen at random each time the emote was performed. This was changed to always show the hatchet, along with the introduction of the rule against unofficial player-run games of chance, on the 18th March 2013. [2]
