Coins (also known as GP) are the main currency in RuneScape. They are used for almost everything economy-related - everything traded on the Grand Exchange and in most shops requires coins to buy.
Coins that are picked up or traded are normally placed in the money pouch but can be withdrawn into the holder's inventory. Coins in the pouch will be protected on death, while coins in the inventory will be lost.
The maximum number of coins (and all other items as well) a player may have in one stack is 2,147,483,647 (equal to 231 - 1) coins, as this is the maximum posssible value for an unsigned 32 bit integer (which is used in Java).
When under 100,000 coins, the number is yellow and defines the actual number of coins.
When over 100,000 coins, the number is white and uses the K measurement, K meaning thousands. (also is T in other languages.)
When over 10,000,000 coins, the number is green and uses the M measurement, M meaning millions. This used to be a light green.
In older days, when the stack reached over 100,000,000 coins, the stack number turned a darker green.
