The Corrupt dragon longsword, a rare drop from the creatures within the Forinthry Dungeon, was released on October 15, 2008 with PvP worlds. Now PvP Worlds have been removed. Wielding this sword requires 60 attack. It has identical stats to the Dragon longsword, minus the desirable special attack. Along with not having the special attack, the corrupt longsword is degradable. After 30 minutes of being equipped, it leaves the wielder unarmed.

Before Bounty Hunter and PvP Worlds were removed, it could be received as a semi-rare drop when a player killed their opponent in combat. However, now that the they are removed, the Corrupt dragon longsword can be obtained as a rare drop from the revenants, buying it from the Grand Exchange, or by trading with another player and receiving the sword.

The Corrupt dragon longsword, along with all other corrupt dragon items, degrades when worn, not while in combat. When not using this item, it is highly recommended not to wield it, as this makes the longsword degrade faster.

The sword's most common use is in free-to-play player killing, although it is a common substitute to the Corrupt dragon scimitar. This is because the scimitar is much more expensive it has the ability to hit up to 370, although this is rare. However, it is still rarely used, as a rune scimitar can hit nearly as high.

it is highly recommended to use the non-degrading dragon longsword on a member's server. Although it has identical stats, isn't degradable and has a special attack. The corrupt version is also more than 12 times more expensive than it's non-corrupt counterpart, leaving the choice seemingly obvious.

Trivia

When the Dragon longsword received it's graphical update, changing it to look like it currently does, this corrupt version did not. However, this was soon fixed to match the non-corrupt version.
