The crystal saw is an item made after The Eyes of Glouphrie quest, by using the crystal seed given by Brimstail on the crystal bowl in his cavern. Note that the crystal chime gained from The Path of Glouphrie uses the same seed, so it is not possible to have both the saw and chime at the same time.

When used to build Construction items the saw will give an invisible +3 boost to your Construction level, letting you build items beyond your current level. This effect stacks with the effects of cups of tea and evil stew. When the saw is used for Construction it will gradually degrade - only 28 items can be built using the saw before it degrades back into a seed. Features such as plants and rooms do not require a saw, so building those features does not degrade the crystal saw.

The saw can also be used at the sawmill to cut planks, which will give additional experience and does not degrade the saw.
