Dahmaroc was a mage who lived in the Second Age, a time when supplies of runes were limited and battles were often fought for possession of them. After losing one such battle, Dahmaroc was turned to stone and cursed to spend eternity with the thing he loved most. Pieces of his statue can still be found in RuneScape while training non-combat skills as part of the Shattered Heart activity - when they are assembled at the Varrock Museum, the curse reactivates and the statue shatters again.

The completionist cape that hangs on the top floor of the museum is protected by one of Dahmaroc's enchantments to ensure that only truly worthy adventurers can touch it - anyone who is not worthy is temporarily transformed into an animal.
