Speak to Osman about the Ransom note you received during Stolen Hearts. He will ask you to fetch Ozan and meet him in the vault of the Kharid-ib. Ozan is outside of the Al Kharid palace, speak to him and you will both go to meet Osman. Osman reveals that the Kharid-ib in the palace is a fake, and sends you and Ozan to rescue Prince Ali.
Inspect the Het scales again to take the Heavy weight then, climb the rope to access the palace roof (yellow dot on the map to the left).
Climb down the brickwork to the west, and then shimmy across the rope. Eagle jump down from the roof from the rug to the south.
Head south and around the back of the palace, towards the Shantay Pass gate. Speak to Shantay, who - after an unusual conversation - will give you some free waterskins and allow you access to the desert.
Once outside, a conversation will ensue with Ozan. When you're ready, select the final option, and Ozan will crack open the heavy weight to reveal the real Kharid-ib.
The diamond will emit a screeching sound, and a sundial associated with Het will rise from the sands. Inspect the sundial, and select the icon around the outside to point the gnomon to the human-like face.
Follow the beam of light now emitting from the sundial. You'll eventually reach the sundial of Apmeken, where you'll be attacked by Bandits and their Bandit king. Defeat the bandits and collect the sundial piece from the final one defeated. Reattach it and then interact with the sundial.
Point the gnomon towards the monkey face. Again, follow the light to the next sundial.
The next sundial will be buried, and upon investigation you'll become stuck in quicksand. No matter how you struggle, you'll sink down and fall into a small cavern below, losing the Kharid-ib as you do so. An infant kalphite will enter and take the Kharid-ib as you and Ozan are awakening.
Investigate the tunnels until Ozan discovers that he was sitting upon the missing piece of the third sundial and repairs it. Inspect the sundial and point the gnomon toward the crocodile head. Follow the beam of light through the correct tunnel.
Keep going down the passage as it gets darker, and enter the tunnel at the end. Once you're in the Kalphite Nursery, start to slice open the Dung kalphites. If you don't have a slashing weapon, there's a Bronze scimitar on the floor near the cave entrance.
After a few, Ozan will tell you to focus on the once which are sparkling. Do so, and after you've obtained several lesser gems, you'll find the Kharid-ib.
Leela will arrive and lower a rope for you to escape. Climb the rope to leave the Kalphite Nursery. Talk to Leela and once the conversation is over, inspect the sundial and point the gnomon to the scarab symbol.
After another conversation, follow the beam of light to meet Lady Keli. No matter which options you choose, you will eventually give Lady Keli the Kharid-ib. After further conversation, she will reveal herself as the desert goddess Amascut.
She will create a sandstorm, in which you, Leela and Ozan will fight her henchmen, Apep and Heru. When they're defeated, speak to Prince Ali. Ozan will leave, and you and Leela will return to Al Kharid to meet Osman.

Immediately after the death of Emir Shah, Osman the Spymaster of Al Kharid seems troubled about the Ransom note the adventurer gave to him. He requests him/her to get Ozan and meet together back into the vault since he watns them to see something before they even think about trying to steal the Kharid-ib again. When the adventurer accepts his request, Osman is satisfied with his/her answer and is informed that Ozan is standing around the palace steps.
The truth about the Kharid-ib
When the adventurer finds Ozan, he apologizes for slipping away after the emir's immediate death since he had to clear his head but looks on the bright side as he had re-acquainted with Al Kharid and admires how tasty Karim's kehabs are. When the adventurer tells him about him getting his citizenship back and that his past actions had been purposely forgotten, Ozan is surprised to see that no one had blamed him for the emir's death. He/she informs him that the emir has been ill for a long time and that Osman wants to show something to them. Ozan wonders if Osman has a plan to rescue Prince Ali from his captors, Lady Keli, Apep, and Heru.
In the vault, Osman tells them that he always knew that their intent of stealing the Kharid-ib was to save the prince and to pay his ransom. Osman notes that he had caught them in the act and that the first part of the ransom message was to "follow the path of the sun into the lion's mouth." Ozan remembered that part but Osman tells them to forget the lion part for a minute and concentrate on the path of the sun part instead for now. He speculates that the "path to the sun" was related to the Kharid-ib, and the REAL Kharid-ib. The adventurer and Ozan finds out that the Kharid-ib they tried to steal was a fake although Ozan knows that the fake Kharid-ib was still valuable as it was a real diamond. Osman attests to that fact but it was still true that they probably wouldn't have gotten the prince back without the real diamond. By following this "path of the sun," Lady Keli had made sure that they had brought her the real diamond if they were able to find her. There was apparently no possible way to find Prince Ali without taking the real diamond.
When the adventurer tells him to give them the real Kharid-ib already, Osman refuses to since his last order from Emir Shah was to not let the Kharid-ib leave Al Kharid under any circumstances. When Ozan asks him why did he tell him about all of this, Osman explains that he wanted to prevent another theft since he knew how he thinks and that he would have ended up wit the fake anyway. Ozan is confuses about Osman's intentions (and the adventurer humorously points out who placed the rope back together), Osman replies by saying he is not helping him with anything and that placing the heavy weight onto the diamond display would trigger an alarm, which was how Osman caught them beforehand so he advises them to keep hold of the heavy weight. When Ozan asks him what the punishment for trying to steal the fake diamond was, Osman says nothing except that Ozan's banishment was a lenient punishment. Osman decides to lock the vault as he exits and the vault shall not be opened again until the prince has returned and that this conversation had never happened. Ozan tells him/her to grab the heavy weight quickly and get out of the vault.
Adventures at the Kharidian Desert
When the two of them went to Shantay Pass and attempt to cross the pass, Shantay suddenly stops them and weirdly asks them where they are taking him. Ozan is confused by his question but attempts to answer back. Shantay seems to not want to go to the desert there as he is apparently scared but Ozan is still confused since they are not taking Shantay with them. Shantay begs them to take him back home and Ozan thinks that he has been too much exposure to the sun. Shantay looks confused and suddenly speaks to them normally and calls them effendi. He apologizes for not seeing them there and asks them how he could help. Ozan, still confused, tells him one last time that they're going into the desert but Shantay insist that they take some supplies with them.
As they pass through the gates of Shantay Pass, Ozan remarks on how odd Shantay was acting odd for a moment there, with the adventurer agreeing with him since he/she thought it seemed like they were talking to two different people. Ozan suggests the possibility that someone, or something, was controlling him like Lady Keli did with Mercenary Joe and the other Skulls mercenaries in Draynor Village. The adventurer doubts that since Shantay's eyes weren't glowing and that he didn't try to kill them. Ozan decides it was still weird but nevertheless enters the fierce Kharidian Desert.
When the adventurer asks him why did they steal the heavy weight in the first place, Ozan tells him/her to remember Osman's advise on not putting the weight onto the display and instead keep hold of it. Now that he thought of it, it seemed like a typical Kharidian trap: hide things in plain sight and tempt you with a decoy and placing some death traps just for laughs and Ozan remarks that it was the number one cause of death for professional tomb raiders but notes that the lore of the Kharid-ib states that the emir had obtained it from one of the nine ambassadors' stomach, implying that the ambassador had swallowed the Kharid-ib in order to hide it. The adventurer deduced that the real Kharid-ib was inside the heavy weight the whole entire time and just to be sure, Ozan tries to smash the weight. As he did, a high-pitched screeching sound suddenly filled the air. Ozan wonders if the screech came from the diamond and a couple of seconds later, a sundial emerged from the ground.
Ozan notices that the sundial has Het's (the desert god the scales back in the vault were modeled after) face and that the sundial was the right place to start. The adventurer sees that the sundial has four faces on it and points the gnomon towards the human face, which was what Het represented. A beam of light will then appear and Ozan thinks that the direction the light is pointing to is where they should go.
As they followed the beam of light, they see the Apmeken sundial but Ozan senses something is odd about this. As they get closer, the Kharid-ib makes another screeching sound and all of a sudden, five Bandits jump out of the sand and the Bandit king emerges out of the sand. The bandit king asks them why wouldn't they take him back home, with Ozan remarking that was definitely not what a bandit would say. The adventurer tells him that the Bandit king wasn't the one doing the talking since he was acting similar to Shantay. The bandit king demands them to turn back now and take him back to the palace, with the two of them realizing that the diamond is possessing the Bandit king and speaking to them through him. The king warns them to turn back or else they would die. Ozan refuses to and like with Shantay, the Bandit King initially becomes confused with the whole situation but orders the bandits to kill them. The adventurer and Ozan manage to defeat all six of them and pick up the sundial gnomon off of them.
Ozan is shocked that the Kharid-ib is trying to have them killed but the adventurer thinks the diamond may be warning them instead. Ozan tells him/her not to listen to the diamond since if they don't rescue Prince Ali, Menaphos would start a war again and that many lives would be lost. The adventurer eventually sees his point and puts the gnomon back with the sundial. He/she points the gnomon towards the monkey (Apmeken) symbol and another rumbling sound is heard although Ozan notes that the rumble seemed to be a lot quieter than before. When they went northwest, they found the gnomon of the sundial but the sundial itself doesn't seem to be present. The Kharid-ib makes another shrill burst and the two of them found themselves sinking in quicksand. Ozan is first happy since he has never been in quicksand before and that the quicksand would make his story more exciting but when Ozan finds that his method of escaping quicksand, which was to make himself buoyant by laying flat and getting his legs up, isn't working at all. The adventurer tries many methods of getting themselves out of the quicksand but none of them were even close to working. In the end, both of them sink into the quicksand.
They fall into a small cavern but the Kharid-ib falls out of the adventurer's backpack and a small creature finds it and rolls away with it. Ozan observes that they were lucky that under the quicksand was a small cavern and that the diamond had fallen out of his/her backpack. The only good thing about their situation was that they had found the third sundial of Crondis. When the adventurer tries to find the gnomon by going through multiple tunnels (Ozan's leg is hurt since he landed on something hard), they had no luck on finding the gnomon but as it turns out, Ozan was sitting on the gnomon the whole entire time. He fixes the sundial and the adventurer turns the gnomon towards the crocodile symbol. This time, they didn't hear a rumble although Ozan wonders if it is because they didn't have the diamond or that the next sundial wasn't so close to their location. The beam of light pointed towards one tunnel so having no better place to go, they enter the tunnel. As they walk through the tunnel, Ozan's leg is still hurt so they had to walk the entire time so he can walk it off. Ozan starts hearing some weird noises, the awful stench, and the fact it is getting darker as they enter deeper. At the other end of the tunnel, they enter a completely dark room and Ozan steps on something odd. He finds a torch and lights it, only to find that hey are in the Kalphite Nursery full of Dung kalphites.
Ozan is annoyed that any of the dung kaphites could be the one rolling the diamond since it was like finding a needle in a haystack and as he tries to make a remark, the adventurer keeps shushing him and they can barely hear the diamond's telltale sound. Ozan calls the adventurer a genius as all they can do is to find the dung kalphite with the sparkling gem. After slicing the kalphites, they manage to find a sapphire, emerald, ruby, and finally, the Kharid-ib. A hole in the ceiling suddenly appears as the fourth sundial had emerged out of the sand but the hole is too high for them to reach though. All of a sudden, they find that Leela is at the top of the hole and they are shocked to find each other there. Leela lowers a rope for them to climb up with. Before they climb up, Ozan makes the adventurer never to speak of what happened in the Kalphite Nursery to Leela.
The first thing Leela notices about them is their awful stench, which Ozan leaves it ambiguous to her. They tell her that her father Osman has sent them to get the prince back and that Emir Shah has died of natural causes. Ozan tells her of their journey, with him skipping mosto f hte details in the Kalphite Nursery. He also tells her that the Kharid-ib is not just a simple diamond. It can talk by possessing people and leaving them confused afterwards and it wants them to return to Al Kharid. Leela thinks they are just being silly since she had grown up in the palace and if the Kharid-ib was acting strange, she would have known about ti already and that they're just having their guilty conscious speaking or a heat stroke. Anyway, she is still glad that she found them and that they should fix up the sundial. Leela fixes it as she tfound the sundial gnomon as it fell off as the sundial emerged from the sand. The adventurer points the gnomon towards the Scabaras symbol. As it it the last sundial, the beam of light points towards south-west. Leela notes that the next part of the ransom note was that they would follow the path of the sun into the lion's mouth and that there used to be a temple of Amascut in that direction and that Amascut's animal aspect was a lioness. Ozan thinks it may be where the captors are holding the prince and remarks that they don't encounter Amascut as the kidnapping only has room for one power mad, control freak of a lady. When Leela asks him if he meant that was supposed to be Lady Keli, he answers "Of course!" and that Keli knows that they have the Kharid-ib. Ozan wonders if they can steal the diamond back from Keli afterwards.
When they reached the old temple, they meet Lady Keli, who is no longed hooded. Ozan threatens her if she happens to hurt the prince but Leela tells him to be quiet. Keli demands that they give her the Kharid-ib first before she hands over the prince. Leela questions her if she would really give the prince back but Keli tells Leela that she doesn't really have much of a choice here. Keli becomes increasingly crazy if they refuse to as she threatens to have Apep kill the prince and she would kill everyone here if they refuse again. The Kharid-ib speaks through Apep as he begs them not to give him to her and Leela is shocked at this revelation. The diamond speaks through Heru and he is frightened that Keli would kill them all. The possessed Apep tells Keli that she can't make him give him to her and the possessed Heru wants to go back home to Al Kharid. Keli tells both of them to be quiet and similar to what happened to Shantay and the Bandit king, Apep and Heru are confused of what happened to them,
The adventurer nevertheless gives her the diamond and strangely enough, Keli proclaims that after many centuries, she has the diamond now. Leela is confused by what she is saying and Keli tells her that since she was born, she has been after the diamond. Ozan tells ehr to be done with her evil monologue and demands that she gives them the prince already. Keli ignores him and is still amazed that she has the diamond and that she observes the diamond is so small, hard and cold. Ozan calls her crazy and tells her again to give them the prince. All of a sudden, Keli snaps and starts acting belligerent and demands them to call her beautiful and powerful. Ozan admits that she is pretty statuesque but the whole kidnapping situation destroys her image and tells her to give them the prince already. Keli starts to threaten them of popping their limbs from their sockets, stripping the flesh from their bones and that she would devour their soul. She tells them that she is not crazy and that she is the goddess Amascut!
Ozan and Leela are both shocked that Amascut is standing in front of them. Before departing, Amascut creates a sandstorm to trap them inside the temple and orders Apep and Heru to kill them. Apep tells them that they have to die because of their orders, with Heru half-wittingly agreeing with him. Ozan insults him by saying that Apep only wears his eyepatch to make Heru look half as ugly, with Heru at first laughing at his joke but finds out that he is being insulted too. Leela tells them that they should do Apep a favor by taking the other eye out and maybe his nose and ears too. Apep and Heru are angered by their insults and that Apep tells her it's all sticks and stones and calls her princess. Leela tells him that only Ozan can call her princess but quickly corrects herself that she is not a princess. All of them start fighting.
During the fight, Apep yells out "Whirling dervish!" and attacks them with his special attack, which is to create a tornado and to briefly stun and knock back the adventurer. Heru yells out "Sunburst!" and blinds them with the sunlight reflected off Heru's shield. Despite their attacks, Apep and Heru are defeated and their bodies and weapons sink into the sand. After the battle was over, the adventurer frees Prince Ali Mirza. He thanks them for rescuing him but he tells them that they shouldn't have given Amascut the Kharid-ib since he cannot believe his father would allow it. Ozan does not know how to tell him the news but Ali guesses that he is dead. Leela tells him that he is right and that he had died of natural causes. Ali tells her it is okay since the emir has been ill for a long time and that he has prepared his son to succeed him but Ali remarks that one cannot be prepared for the death of a loved one. Leela advises them to go back to Al Kharid quickly, with Ozan agreeing with her and that he thanks the adventurer for a great adventure with him. The adventurer asks him why he is leaving so soon but he tells him/her that since he was the one who took the Kharid-ib away from Al Kharid, he cannot go back there until he has reclaimed it. Ozan teleports away and the journey back to Al Kharid has been uneventful.
Osman congratulates the adventurer and Leela for getting the prince back and corrects himself as Ali is now emir and that he will prove to be a strong leader. Leela tells her father that it is not all good news as they had lost the diamond but to her surprise, he tells her that Ozan lost the diamond and that Ozan was the scapegoat to his plan all along. Leela calls her father manipulative as he manipulates his agents and her and Osman tells her to be quiet since it was Ozan who stole the diamond and it was his choice. Leela tells him it was not as simple as he thought as Amascut was the one who kidnapped the now-emir but Osman demands that she return to her area in Draynor Village. Leela tells him that Amascut and Menaphos are plotting something but they don't know what.
Meanwhile, deep in the Kharidian Desert, a conversation between the Menaphite ambassador Jabari and Amascut occurs. When Amascut asks him what message does the emir have for her, he tells her that he does not have one as the mission was a success. Osman had suspected that something about him was off from the start but the kidnapping of Ali Mirza had distracted him so he had free reign of the palace. Jabari tells her that he had poisoned Emir Shah's nightly incense and that everyone still believes that the emir had died of natural causes. Amascut is satisfied with his news and tells him that she may need his skills as the Menephite ambassador again in the future. He also tells her that the payment was also delivered and Amascut mysteriously answered that he may think it is his salvation but it will also be his undoing. When Jabari asks her if she had gotten the heart, Amascut tells him that she almost didn't since the dung kalphite that rolled away with the Kharid-ib was sent by Scabaras and that she would deal with him later. Amascut tells Jabari to return to Menaphos and to attend the pharaoh and Jabari complies with her, as he sees that he lives to serve and that he serves to live.
Back at the palace, Osman remarks that Leela is becoming more like her mother every day and congratulates the adventurer for saving Ali Mirza.
