To keep RuneScape a fun and safe place to be, we have rules to help guide our players to show honour, respect and keep them safe.
Temporary or permanent bans and mutes may result from players breaking these rules.
Players have the opportunity to appeal bans or mutes. Appeals received will be reviewed by a Jagex Mod to make sure that the ban or mute was fair. Please note that the ban or mute duration could increase or decrease, where appropriate.
Offence Appeal System
To check the current offences on an account select the Account Settings option from the Account drop down above and enter your login details.
Click on the Account Status option and you will be see two meters; one relating to bans and one to mutes.
If a temporary ban or mute has been issued, the slider on the meter will move forward. Any future bans or mutes given will cause this meter to rise. If either bar reaches the top of its respective slider, the player will receive either a permanent ban or a permanent mute.
When checking the status of your account, you will see 3 colour zones reflecting the level of offences associated with it. These zones are explained below:

You have committed no offences. |

You have committed a small number of minor offences, and have been given short-term bans or mutes. |

You have committed a significant number of offences, and are in danger of being given a permanent ban or mute should you commit any further offences. |
Beneath the pillars you will notice a list of the offences that have been committed over the past twelve months on your account. Details of each offence will be given, including the evidence for the offence, if available. Each offence will remain on the account for twelve months, after which it will be automatically removed unless a permanent ban or mute is issued.
Appeal an Offence
An offence can be appealed by selecting the appeal button next to the relevant offence after which, a form will be presented to offer the details of the appeal. This information will then be reviewed by the Customer Support team. If the appeal is successful, the offence will be removed from the account, as well as any penalty that was given for the offence.
