Disease

Disease is a form of damage that players may receive when facing certain enemies or activities, indicated by orange hit splats on an affected player. It behaves similarly to poison by causing damage at regular intervals, but it will drain a player's skill levels rather than their health. This is not helpful when performing actions that require skill levels to be high, such as combat against dangerous enemies.

Players are likely to first encounter disease during the Zogre Flesh Eaters quest, as zogres and skogres carry disease and can pass it on to players through combat. Other objects that cause disease include fever spiders when the player is not wearing slayer gloves, or in the Dominion Tower when the "Disease" handicap is active.

During Zogre Flesh Eaters, players will learn how to make Relicym's balm that can reduce and cure disease; drained skill levels will recover over time or with the use of stat-restoring potions. Disease can also be prevented by wearing an inoculation brace.
