Dragon claws (often abbreviated as 'D. Claws' or simply 'Claws') are a two-handed weapon that are commonly used for it's special attack. They were released on November 26, 2008 along with While Guthix Sleeps. To wear them, 60 Attack is needed. Although While Guthix Sleeps is required to obtain the claws as a drop, it is not required to wear them.
Immediately upon release, and ever since, they have been compared to the special attack of the Dragon dagger. They both have a special attack that inflicts 8 hits. However, the dragon claws are often considered better due to the fact they hit two sets of four consecutive hits while the dragon dagger hits four sets of two consecutive hits.
They are obtained by a drop from Tormented Demons after completion of While Guthix Sleeps. Obtaining them as a drop is relatively rare. Because of this, many players choose to buy them on the Grand Exchange or from another player. Upon release, they were priced at 150,000 coins. Since then, they have fetched all the way into the upper 30 millions, now stabilizing between 10 and 15 million.
Their main uses are player-killing, lending and as a special attack weapon at boss monsters or Slayer. This is because, under the right circumstances, they can deal a very large, and fast, amount of damage, possibly killing the enemy. Currently, they can hit over 1,200 damage, although this is a rare hit for them.
Slice and Dice Sequences
The Slice and Dice special is four very quick attacks performed in two pairs(not at once as most believe), having a potential to inflict a large amount of damage. The special attack sequence:
- First, a normal attack, which usually deals a high amount of damage; then half of that first hit, and then finally two attacks that add up to the second hit. For example, 300-150-70-80.
- If the first hit misses and the second one hits, the 3rd and 4th hits will each deal half of the damage of the second hit. For example, 0-300-150-150.
- If the first two attacks hit 0-0, the 3rd and 4th will perform as regular hits. For example, 0-0-225-225. However, the last 2 hits can only be up to 75% of your max hit.
- If the claws hit 3 initial zeros, the last hit (if it hits) will have a 50% damage boost; e.g.: 0-0-0-450.
- If the first three attacks fail, and the fourth attack also "fails", the fourth attack almost always hits a low number instead of a 0; approximately between 1 and 7 lifepoints. A player with protect from melee or Deflect melee, divine / elysian spirit shield, 90+ defence, or with the Staff of Light special attack active can sometimes completely defend against dragon claws.
- If the target (player) is under the effect of the lunar spell Disruption Shield, then all four of the attacks will be ignored.
The reason many players view this weapon to be overpowered is because of its potential to hit 2x normal damage, compared to the Armadyl godsword's 1.25x damage. It also has 4 different sequence hits, and almost never completely misses, making its special attack one of the most reliable in the game.
The special attack is also the reason the claws are so sought after on God Wars Dungeon teams. Many players will find that teams on the forums are looking exclusively for people who have dragon claws to special with.

Trivia
- When first released, the starting price on the Grand Exchange was 150,000 coins but many people were offering much higher prices on the street, thus leading them to skyrocket to it's current price, with some dips and rises.
- On the 20th of October 2009, Jagex included a sound effect for the dragon claw's special attack.
- Dragon claws are "worn" instead of wielded.
