Do you get experience when you light a candle?
No, you do not gain Firemaking experience for using items such as candles and lanterns as you can continually light, extinguish and re-light these objects.
Do my fires last longer if I use higher-level wood?
No, that's completely random.
How do you recommend I increase my Firemaking level?
Try burning logs that give the highest experience points available to you. This will ensure that you level up faster.
Magic logs (if you're a member) or yew logs give the highest experience; because magic trees are very limited around RuneScape you may want to burn yew logs.
Remember that banking your logs before starting to train this skill saves time and doesn't interrupt your routine. So, when burning logs, stay near a bank. And be patient!
If you cannot afford lighting Yew logs or Magic logs for training, try Maple logs. They are a cheap and effective alternative that wont take too much longer.
