Refer a Friend is our way of thanking you when you help the RuneScape Community grow. Not only do you get to explore the RuneScape world with your friends, if they become members you get a 10% XP boost for a week. In addition, when you Refer a Friend they get a starter pack to welcome them.
Here are some of the finer details of the Refer a Friend programme.
When you've signed up to the programme you can invite up to 50 friends every month using e-mail
You can use the referral link that we provide to refer an unlimited amount of people
If your friend creates an account directly from your referral they will receive a starter pack and a 100% XP boost for their first 7 days (or up to level 30 on all skills)
If your friend subscribes within 14 days of creating their account you will receive a 10% boost on all skills for 7 days. You can receive up to 5 XP boosts (you can even queue them up if you wish) over the year from when the first one is activated
Don't worry about missing when a friend purchases membership, we'll let you know through your e-mail so you can stay focused on your game.
Here's what you can expect to find in a starter pack.
The referred friend will receive an XP boost for 7 days, starting when they log in for the first time, that doubles their XP gain. Should they reach level 30 in any skill the XP bonus will no longer apply to that skill. This bonus will also apply to members skills if you subscribe.
The referrer can also receive an XP bonus of 10% if their referee subscribes within 14 days of creating their account. This bonus is activated on the website and will run for 7 days from the next time you log in (or straight away if you are already in game when you activate the bonus). This bonus applies to all skills, no matter the level, but member skills require a subscription.
For referrers who have more than one subscribed referee, their XP bonuses are queued. You can only have one active bonus at a time, and you cannot activate another bonus if you have one active already.
It should be noted that, unlike the bonus XP weekend, there is no (+x) when you are shown XP gain. The XP number shown here includes the bonus XP you are receiving.
Everybody makes mistakes, so adding membership to the wrong account can happen.

Using one of the payment methods listed below you are able to purchase RuneScape membership to your friends and family also.
This is a payment method that is designed with gifts in mind. Simply purchase a Game Card from your local store and hand it over to the lucky recipient. They in turn receive RuneScape membership and a card to with some RuneScape artwork on to keep.
You can find out more about how RuneScape Game Cards work in the Making a RuneScape Membership Payment Section (just choose your country) or find out where to purchase them using our store locator.
Credit/Debit Cards can be used to purchase membership for immediate friends and family, enabling you to give somebody close to you ongoing RuneScape Membership.
To gift membership using a Credit/Debit Card you will need to be at the same computer to ensure your card and account details are safe, so we only recommend this for very close family members.
PayByPhone payments mean you can pay for close friend or family members RuneScape membership by simply dialling the number provided from the subscription page. To receive a membership PIN you will need access to the telephone, so we always recommend asking for permission first.
