Hellhounds are mid to high level demonic dogs that are often given as a Slayer assignment to mid to high level players. They are the highest level free-to-play monster outside of Dungeoneering. They were released on 27th February 2002 and were made available to free-to-play on 16th June 2009 with the arrival of the Wilderness Volcano.

- Level 60 (Vengeance saga) - "A savage beast."
Strategies
As Hellhounds are in a multi-combat zone in the Taverley Resource Dungeon, it is recommended to kill Hellhounds here if you are willing to pay for a Dwarf Multicannon. Simply set the cannon up in the middle of the room and kill the Hellhounds.
The obstacles mean that occasionally Hellhounds retreat when you attack them because they cannot reach you. Methods to prevent this include using a familiar such as a steel titan familiar with steel of legends scrolls or simply moving towards them, which will cause them to run forward to attack you.
They are also quite accurate, therefore a healing familiar or food is highly recommend.
