Herald Capes

Free to all players, the customizable Herald Cape allows you to show support for one of the three starting cities. Should you wear your cape in the presence of the rulers of these cities, you may find yourself greeted with more enthusiasm - or disapproval - than usual.

You may only have one cape at a time, but can switch between them freely by speaking to the appropriate herald.

Your Herald cape can be edited in many ways, and you will unlock more customization options as you complete more tasks for your chosen city.

Your tasks will be shown on the customization screen (right-click the Herald to customize your cape): just choose the 'Unlock Requirements' tab. This will show you what you need to do in order to unlock each tier of your Herald cape and therefore the additional customization options.

There are a total of five tiers which you can progress through, starting with tier 1. The green progress bar will fill to the current active tier.

Tier 5 will always show as locked until tier 4 is completed. You are free to browse the requirements of the other tiers, however.

Note that you can complete the tiers in any order.

One of the options you have for customizing your cape is to change the colors. There are three areas you can change the color for on your cape. Clicking a color sample will bring up a new interface and you can choose your color from there. The slider on the right adjusts the hue, and you can change the saturation and lightness using the box on the left.

Other customization options include changing the shape of the background behind the city logo and changing the style of the cape's trim.

With any customization changes you make, these will not be saved unless you press 'finish'.

Losing your Cape

The Herald capes can only be lost when deliberately destroyed. Getting a cape back will require another trip to the herald of your choice.

Trivia

  • If a player were to customize their cape with a Turkey Crest (unlocked from the 2011 Thanksgiving event) and perform the 'Give Thanks' emote while wearing the cape, the player would transform into a cooked turkey instead of a dancing turkey.
  • Herald capes were released with the intentions of stopping players who would create clans in chances of receiving a customisable cape only for themselves.
  • The Dragon Crest is unlocked by completing the Dragon Slayer quest.
