Imps are found all over the place within Runescape, they are usually either ignored or regarded as pests. They are extremely weak, with only 80 Lifepoints, and are often struck down in a single blow by even very new players. The impious ashes dropped by the imps can be gathered in Prayer Urns (which are Impious urn, Infernal urn, and Accursed urn).
They have the somewhat unique ability teleport a short distance in a puff of smoke. Although they usually do this when trying to retreat from an attacker, they have also been known to somewhat compulsively teleport for no apparent reason. The system which governs the teleporting of imps does not have any sort of destination checker, which has lead to numerous instances of imps being found in very odd places such as between walls, or behind bank counters.
Imps were long considered the weakest type of demon until Evil Dave dispelled this myth by essentially accidentally summoning an even weaker form of demon with his horrible ineptitude, the hell rat.
Beads
The beads dropped by imps are required in the quest 'Imp Catcher' in which the player has to collect all four coloured beads. The beads can either be obtained by killing imps throughout Runescape, traded with other players or bought on the Grand Exchange.
One nearby location for killing an imp for this quest is in Lumbridge. At the corner of the road next to the river, cabbage patch, and the sheep pen is a spot where a single imp will spawn. Note that you first have to kill him for him to spawn in that location, he'll usually be wandering around the area. After killing him then he'll spawn after a few minutes at the corner of the road by two goblins.
A location with multiple imps within a short distance is an area south of Ardougne between the zoo, monastery road and the tower of life. Usually by standing near the drunken monk next to his broken cart you can spot at least two imps nearby within the area described above.
Champion Challenge (members only)
Imps have the distinction of being one of handful of races to have a representative at the Champions' Challenge, and hence all imps have a chance of dropping the champion's challenge scroll from the imp champion. As with all champion scrolls, it is an extreemely rare drop. Players can kill thousands of imps and still come up empty-handed, and because of this, this scroll is widely considered the most difficult to obtain. Further exacerbating the problem is the fact that nowhere are imps found in large, dense, clusters which makes the prospect of hunting large numbers of imps very similar to the concept of herding cats.
Relative Strength
Imps are one of the weakest creatures in RuneScape, and offer no significant challenge even to completely new players.
