Highly trained and well-organised, the Imperial Guard, based in the town of Burthorpe, are Asgarnia's main defence against marauding trolls who live in the northern mountains. This is done under the management of Prince Anlaf, heir to the throne of Asgarnia.

The Imperial Guard view the White Knights of Falador as a rival military force in Asgarnia and have not been happy about the knights filling the vacuum left by King Vallance's illness. The Guard question Sir Amik Varze's intentions, and are aware that his knights control the nation's treasury.

Quests

Players can aid the Imperial Guard against the Trolls in:

• Troll Warzone - An introductory training tutorial for new members, players are required to shore up the defences following a Troll attack
• Troll Invasion - With regular attacks, the Imperial Guard needs new recruits. Players can 'volunteer' to help repel troll attacks either in combat or by defending the walls of Burthorpe on a monthly basis
• Death Plateau - Unable to invade the ground of Death Plateau, the Imperial Guard needs you to seek out local assistance to give it an edge against the enemy

Personalities

Prince Anlaf	Commander Denulth
While Prince Anlaf may seem oblivious to the danger from the trolls, he is hidden away not to avoid his duties, but to protect himself from would-be assassins: the first in line to the throne of Asgarnia is constantly aware of this danger. Because of this, Prince Anlaf can be found, or more specifically, can't be found, in secret areas of his Games Room where he attempts to master the intricacies of Runeversi and Runesquares. With his combination of wariness and a love of games, the role of ruler has effectively passed to Denulth and his Imperial Guard.	The finest fighter and military mind of the Imperial Guard, Denulth has risen to the position of Burthorpe's acting ruler. Ensconced in his tent, he has been fruitlessly attempting to break the deadlock against the trolls of the Trollheim, a prolonged battle that has cost the lives of so many of his Guards. Passionate in his belief that Burthorpe should maintain its relative freedom of rule, Denulth will do whatever he can to secure its safety.
Prince Anlaf is hidden away in his castle.	The Commander is in the centre of Burthorpe, next to the soldier's mess.
Captain Jute	Drill Sergeant Hartman
An officer of the Imperial Guard, responsible for co-ordinating the frontline defences against the Troll Invasion.	An enthusiastic Agility instructor, Hartman provides recommendations to players and co-ordinates the Agility portion of the Troll Warzone tutorial.
Jute is in the North of Burthorpe guarding the path to Death Plateau.	Hartman is next to the Agility course just east of Burthorpe Castle.
Corporal Boothe	Corporal Keymans
Member of the Quartermaster Branch of the Imperial Guard, Boothe is responsible for buying items that players wish to sell from their fighting in Burthorpe Dungeon. His brother is out near Major Mary Rancour, selling items too.	A corporal of the Imperial Guard. He has helped the fight against the trolls firsthand before.
Boothe is in Burthorpe Dungeon near the fortified east wall. His brother, also named Boothe is found near Corporal Keymans. The one shown here is the one outside the dungeon.	Keymans can be found near the training dummies.
