The deathtouched dart (sometimes called the instakill dart) was an item that, when equipped, would instantly kill any enemy hit with it. Each dart could only be used once and would not work on players. They were obtained by using the fate cards, a reward from the Choose Your Fate promotion for all players who had been members for all of August and September 2012. Each player could obtain a maximum of four darts and they expired at the end of 31 December 2012.

The deathtouched dart had some exceptions

• It did not work on Lucien during Ritual of the Mahjarrat.
• It could not be used in Dungeoneering.
• Most enemies with multiple forms would die straight away, skipping any dialogue options and cut scenes that may have occurred between the form changes.
• Using this item on the Balance Elemental during While Guthix Sleeps could kill the elemental but fail to advance the quest.
