Karil the Tainted is one of the spirit warriors that guards the Barrows, and players are likely to encounter him when attempting to enter the burial crypts. Karil fights with ranged using a crossbow, and can produce a special effect called "Tainted Shot" that reduces the target's magic level when they take damage.

Karil is weak to stab weapons, here are a few suggested weapons to use against him:

Depending on your level you may wish to use prayers. These are a few suggested prayers to use:

  • Protect from Missiles to reduce the damage done to you.
  • Chivalry or Piety to help increase your melee damage output by boosting your attack and strength along with defense.

The prayers Protect from Missiles and either Chivalry or Piety, can be used at the same time.
