Pure Essence can be mined on from various essence mines after completing the Rune Mysteries quest and having level 30 mining. Pure essence is necessary for making runes for magic. Pure essence can only be mined on member's worlds but can be used on free worlds. With lower than 30 Mining, Rune essence is mined instead.
Pure essence can be used to make all types of runes. However, it is required to make the following runes (whereas regular rune essence cannot be used):
