Woodcutting or Woodcut as it is known in Runescape Classic is a skill in which players chop down various trees. This skill is much more difficult to do than it's Runescape counter-part. While more difficult, it still shares many similarities with Woodcutting in RuneScape.
The higher one's level in Woodcutting the faster and more often they will chop down trees, when one fails to cut down a tree they will recieve the message 'You slip and fail to hit the tree.' requiring him to click again.
When Runescape Classic was open to free players, only normal trees were placed in Free to Play areas. All trees were placed in pay to play areas. It still remains the same today, but all areas are pay to play. This is because Fletching was a members-only skill, and in Firemaking you can only light regular logs. It was to avoid placing member's content in free areas.

All axes can be used at any level. This means players can use a Rune axe at 1 Woodcutting. This does not however work with pickaxes. Players can purchase bronze, iron, and steel axes at Bob's Brilliant Axes located in Lumrbidge. Other axes must be bought from players, smithed, or obtained from a monster drop.
You can exchange one Cert for five Logs or five Logs, for one Cert north of East Ardougne (Chuck).
