Signs

Introduction

Signs are equipped in the pocket slot of your Worn Equipment interface. There are five types of sign: respite, porter, item protection, life and death.

When you craft a sign, you will receive an inactive version. To activate a the sign, you must equip it in your pocket slot. You cannot deactivate it once it has been activated.

You may only have one active version of each tier sign in any of your inventories. You can have multiple inactive signs, however.

Respite

Signs of Respite extend your gravestone duration by a set amount of time when used.

If you equip your sign before you have a gravestone, the sign will sit dormant in your pocket slot until you die. At this point, the sign will automatically extend the duration of your gravestone and then delete itself from your inventory.

If you equip the sign when you have an active gravestone, the sign will extend the duration of the gravestone and then delete itself from your inventory.

Signs of Respite stack, so if you have an active gravestone and equip multiple signs in sequence, your gravestone will gain the additional duration from all of the signs used.

The three signs extend the your gravestone duration by 2, 4 and 6 minutes respectively.

Porter

Signs of the Porter, when equipped, will teleport certain items that you collect straight to your bank. These signs are not tradeable.

When equipped, the active sign will automatically teleport certain items to the bank when you either pick them up or receive them through skilling. If you do not have space in your bank, the sign will not teleport the item and it will go into your backpack as normal. Click here to view the list of items this applies to.

Each time the sign teleports an item, it will lose a charge. The different tiers of sign all begin with a respective number of charges: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30.

When the sign runs out of charges it will automatically delete itself from your inventory.

Item Protection

Signs of item protection allow you to keep one more item when you die. When you die with a sign of item protection in your pocket slot, it will be automatically used and then deleted from your inventory. These signs stack with themselves and with the portent of item protection (as well as other items and prayers which have the same effect).

The maximum number of items that can be protected on death is 5 - so if you have two portents, or a sign and a portent, or a sign and prayer, etc, these will all stack. If you have 6 portents, only 2 will be used. In terms of priority, the signs and portents take last priority, so other items or prayer effects will be applied first. This item will not work in PvP areas.

Life

The sign of life will resurrect you with 25% of your base lifepoints. The effect will not apply in PvP areas, and the use of the sign has a 1 hour cooldown, shared with the sign of death, portent of death and portent of life. This cooldown only applies to in-game time and will not count down if you log off (e.g. if you have 5 minutes left when you log out, logging in again a day later will show that you still have a 5 minute cooldown).

Death

The sign of death will resurrect you with 15% of your base lifepoints performing the same amount in damage to your enemy. The effect will not apply in PvP areas, and the use of the sign has a 1 hour cooldown, shared with the sign of life, portent of life and portent of death. This cooldown only applies to in-game time and will not count down if you log off (e.g. if you have 5 minutes left when you log out, logging in again a day later will show that you still have a 5 minute cooldown).
