Quote (said by: Ceril Carnillean)
Sir Ceril Carnillean is a wealthy and somewhat snooty nobleman who is a member of the famous Carnillean Family, whose ancestors had defeated Hazeel and ended his reign of terror. Ceril currently lives in his mansion in the south of Ardougne with his wife, Henryeta Carnillean, and his son, Philipe Carnillean. He has two butlers, Butler Jones, who either quits his job if the player sided with the cultists in Hazeel Cult or arrested as a spy if the player decides to help the Carnilleans instead, and Butler Crichton, whom he hired after Butler Jones quit.
In Hazeel Cult, Ceril asks the player to recover the prized Carnillean armour back from the Hazeel Cultists. The player finds out form the cultists that the Carnillean Family's ancestors once defeated Hazeel and ended his reign over Ardougne. Depending on the choice the player makes now, he/she could either side with the cultists and help them revive Hazeel or stick with his/her original request of getting the armour back.
If the player chooses to side with the cultists, he/she would poison the Carnilleans' dog Scruffy instead of another family member and manage to get a scroll from their mansion so they can revive Hazeel. Afterwards, Ceril and the other family members and staff tells the player to go away.
If the player decides to side with the Carnilleans instead, he/she would kill Alomone, the leader of the cult to get back the armour and would soon find out from him that the Carnilleans' butler, Jones, is really a member of the cult. When the player tells Ceril about Jones, he doesn't believe the player's accusation of Butler Jones and of course, Jones denies the allegations. Ceril takes back the armour but still does not believe the accusations against Jones and gives the player their "reward": 5 coins. But when the player goes upstairs and discover some poison and an amulet from the cult in the master bedroom, Jones confesses about his involvement in the cult and soon threatens Ceril and his family. At this point, Ceril calls a guard to arrest Jones and is placed in Port Sarim jail and gives the player the actual reward.
In Carnillean Rising, Ceril recruits Xenia to do a certain task for him but refuses soon after. When the player was asked by Xenia to do the task instead, she tells him/her that the Carnilleans would accept him/her. If the player sided with the cultists, Xenia revealed that she lied to the Carnilleans that the player was saving them from the cultists instead and that he/she should be more responsible in the future. If the player sided with the Carnilleans, they would gladly accept him/her. Ceril tells the player that he and Henryeta are not getting any younger and that Philipe will soon be the next heir to the Carnillean family but the problem is that Philipe is rather snobbish and does not have much interest in many fields of subjects. That is why that he thinks that creating a quest fro him to complete will make him into an adventurer.
When the player accepts, Ceril requests that he/she will only use materials from the mansion so that the player won't ask him for any reimbursing. Ceril tells him/her that the quest will take place in the Forgotten Sewers (now owned by the Carnilleans since it is under their mansion) and will give the player a list of objectives for them to complete before Philipe will embark on his "quest." Ceril asks his butler, Crichton to help the player set up the quest. When the player sets up the dungeon, he/she hires Claus the chef, Slimepits and Nostrilla, and Sarsaparilla, the daughter of a family the Carnilleans are friends of, to play certain roles in the quest. However, Ceril's quest did not go as planned and Philipe ended up facing the Cave wolf matriarch, which was originally not in the quest's script.
When the player returns to Ceril with Philipe, Butler Crichton, and Sarasparilla and tells him how the quest was a success, Ceril is glad that Philipe had an incredible time with the quest but also surprised that the Cave wolf matriarch was killed by Philipe since he did not know the existence of one and that the matriarch was not supposed to be in his quest. Nevertheless, Ceril is happy with the result but finds that Xenia had returned and was "trespassing" on his mansion and tells the player to get rid of her. While Ceril was spending some quality time with his son, Xenia reveals to the player that she was the one who set up the Cave wolf matriarch in the dungeon since she felt that Ceril's quest lacked any real danger and Philipe would never learn from that kind of experience so she decided to polish up the quest by surprising them. After Xenia teleported away, Ceril gives the player their payment, which was in their chest in the mansion, and tells him/her that Philipe had left home in search for more adventures.
Afterwards, Ceril tells the player where Philipe is located, depending on how many quest points he/she have now. If the player does not have the required number of quest points, he tells him/her that he has heard no news about Philipe.
