Go to Turael in Burthorpe, north-west of Falador. If he thinks your task is too tough, he'll give you a different one. He'll only do this if your task is something he'd never set himself. After finishing the quest Smoking Kills you receive points for competing slayer tasks. These points can be used to cancel tasks once, or even forever!
If you have completed the quest "Smoking Kills" and have done five tasks since, it may also be a good idea to reset your task by using your slayer points. To do this, simply go to a slayer master and ask to redeem points.
No, certain monsters are only assigned by certain Slayer masters. Read the Slayer - Masters article to find out what your Slayer Master might give you for an assignment.
If two people are killing the same monster in multiway combat, both players will get the kill, but the experience will be halved. The player that does the most damage to the NPC will have the right to pick up the dropped items first.
Both the person who dealt the killing blow and the person who did the most damage will be counted as the slayer for the purposes of their kill counts (If you did both these things you will only count as having killed the creature once, though). The Slayer experience will be split evenly between the two players.
Slayer monsters will only give Slayer experience if you have been assigned to kill them.
Shades can be found in and around the sorry village of Mort'ton. Mort'ton is found south of Mort Myre Swamp. You will need to start the Nature Spirit quest in order to pass the gate south-west of Canifis.
Alternatively, you can look for them in the Sepulchre of Death, the lowest level of the Stronghold of Security.
The Kalphite Queen is just one of the monsters who belong to the kalphite family. If you have been assigned to slay kalphites, you can also kill kalphite workers, guardians and soldiers. The Exiled Kalphite Hive also contains slayer monsters. You will gain Slayer experience for killing any of these kalphite monsters.
This is not true, you only need to have started the quest to access the elves.
Abyssal demons have the power to teleport themselves, but more importantly they have the power to teleport the player next to them.
Please note, when fighting abyssal demons it is highly recommended that you turn auto-retaliate on.
Bloodvelds and jellies have a strange attack which can be prevented entirely with the Protect from Melee prayer. If you're not using Prayer, then armour with Magic defence works best, such as dragonhide, splitbark, or mystic armour.
All creatures within Daemonheim can count towards your current slayer task. It is very useful to have a Slayer master assign you a monster commonly found in Daemonheim, as you will probably have to kill some in the first place.
Strykewyrms are smarter than they appear, and can sense a lot about any creatures in their territory through subtle vibrations in the ground. It must be that only slayers who are specifically assigned to kill strykewyrms give off a subtle, possibly more tensed vibe, which the wyrms sense, and know to protect their territory from. Casual passers-by clearly aren't as invested in killing them, so the wyrms do not consider them a large enough threat to bother with.
Maximising slayer experience per hour can be done by using things such as cannons on tasks.
Slayer helmets and black masks provide a nice bonus to accuracy and strength while fighting monsters and using familiars is also an excellent option. With 99 Summoning, a player can use the steel titan which drastically subtracts task length.
In addition to this, using potions or prayers that increase the amount of damage you do will dramatically speeds up experience gained per hour. When doing this it is useful to have prayer increasing armor such as proselyte so that you use less prayer potions.
It is also important to know your foe's weaknesses, such as steel dragons are weak to stab (such as Korasi's sword, and the chaotic rapier) and Waterfiends are weak to crush (such as the Zamorakian spear, Saradomin sword and the Chaotic maul). Use these weaknesses to your advantage!
To level Slayer, you don't need a certain weapon. Some tasks you must bring certain items with you to help kill that monster (such as a rock hammer to Gargoyles). The weapon you choose is based on your task, as is your armour. For example, when attempting to kill Iron Dragons during an Iron Dragon task, most players use Proselyte armour combined with either the Chaotic Rapier or Korasi's sword. Not only does the Korasi's sword offer an excellent stab bonus, but it has a devastating special attack that is magic based, which the dragon is also weak to.
Another example is if one should receive a Kalphite task. Players use their main weapon such as an Abyssal Whip, Chaotic Rapier or possibly even a Keris.
