Soul runes are required for various high-level magic spells. These include the Vulnerability, Enfeeble and Stun curses, teleother spells, and various spells from the Ancient Spellbook.

Currently it is not possible to craft soul runes using the Runecrafting skill except through the Ourania altar, as the soul altar and soul talisman remain undiscovered. The soul rune icon can already be found on the wicked hood, but attempting to click the icon will cause the hood to say that it is "UNDISCOVERED". There is also a soul rift in the Abyss, however it cannot be entered.
