This demon and his variants are part of the Demon Raids D&D. Before they go on their rampage, they will drain the life of their minions and grow stronger. You can prevent or limit this by killing the minions.

Start with the Imp heralds, then the lesser demons, followed by the black demons.

Once all of his minions are defeated, the greater demon will begin his attack.
