Introduction

Saradomin vs. Zamorak
Saradomin vs. Zamorak

Saradomin and Zamorak have taken advantage of the death of Guthix to return to Gielinor. They both know that the other gods will be soon to follow, so they look to the tears of Guthix in order to become more powerful

Despite Saradomin arriving on Gielinor first, Zamorak was the first to arrive at the town of Lumbridge where a large source of the tears of Guthix had accumulated. Relishing the opportunity to display his power to the populace, Zamorak was initially distracted allowing time for Saradomin to arrive and intervene.

Now the two gods are fighting each other, desperate to keep the other from gathering the tears themselves. Beneath the feet of their gods, generals have heard the call to arms and now send out raiding parties to collect the tears, or thin the other side's numbers.

Now the generals call to the inhabitants of Gielinor who have yet to decide their allegiance - and those who choose to use their support tactically - to come to their side and help decide who will win the Battle of Lumbridge.

Location of the Battle of Lumbridge

The battle ground can be found west of Lumbridge.

You can easily get there by using the Home Teleport spell and choosing Lumbridge as your destination. From here, head west and you will find the centre of the battle raging around you.

For those with a Magic level of 31 or more, you can use the Lumbridge Teleport which will drop you outside of the Lumbridge Castle gates. From here, head west, around the castle walls.

There are three parts to the battle field, the camps at the north and south end, and the main battle ground in the centre. Saradomin's followers can be found in the northern camp, and the southern camp contains Zamorak's forces.

Each of the camps contains a bank chest and a general store for stocking up on essentials.

Getting Started

Before you can start, you must choose which god to side with. Once you have done this, you will be able to damage and disrupt the enemy faction (and you will take damage while inside their camp too). If you wish to change sides, speak to Kara-Meir but you will lose all progress (contribution, renown and votes) with your current faction.

The battle is based around acquiring divine tears, which are remnants of the divine energy of Guthix. You can gather the tears either through combat or skilling, both in the event and externally. These resources are then turned in to the faction's war camp. Deposited resources are converted into personal contribution to the team's goal, renown and a number of votes.

Personal contribution is merely an indicator of how well you have performed for your team. Renown is a form of currency which is used to acquire rewards from your faction's quartermaster and votes are used to affect the battle on a larger scale.

Resources

Divine tears are the crystalised remnants of Guthix's power, and these tears are desired by both Saradomin and Zamorak.

Gathering Resources

Divine tears are gathered on the battlefield in two ways: killing members of the opposite faction and skilling.

Members of the opposite faction are not aggressive and will never attack you unless attack first. These creatures will scale their combat difficulty according to your own levels so what you are fighting may not be the same as that of your friends.

Please note that the faction members within the battle field do NOT award combat XP when they are killed in the normal fashion, instead you will be granted a token amount of XP. Also note that divine tears will go straight into your inventory; they will not drop on the ground unless your inventory is full.

For skilling, you can use your Fishing, Mining or Woodcutting talents to collect the divine tears. The table below shows the divine tear nodes you are looking for. Note that the nodes may have different colours and properties depending on whether or not there is an active random event. Also note that you do not need any minimum skill levels to interact with the nodes, however the higher your relevant skill then the faster you will gather resources from them.

Type Mining Fishing Woodcutting
Active Divine tear rocks Divine tear pool Divine tear formation
Inactive Divine tear rocks (inactive) Divine tear pool (inactive) Divine tear formation (inactive)
Unstable nodes (no tears) Divine tear rocks (charged) Divine tear pool (charged) Divine tear formation (charged)
Unstable nodes (extra tears) Divine tear rocks (unstable) Divine tear pool (unstable) Divine tear formation (unstable)
Unstable nodes (metal fragments) Divine tear rocks (fragments) Divine tear pool (fragments) Divine tear formation (fragments)

As you gather tears you will notice that you start getting fewer and fewer. This is because you are only allowed to gather a set amount per day and so the rate will slow to prevent you from reaching that cap and not being able to contribute to your faction any more that day. The event interface will show you roughly how many resources you should be getting, the number will vary if you have any buffs activated. Note that members have a higher cap and so will get more resources in one go at the beginning of the day.

Although divine tears are mostly harvested from the battle field, regular skilling activities yield some in much smaller amounts. The activities that provide a chance for divine tears are:

  • Killing any creature that drops charms.
  • Farming
  • Fishing
  • Herblore
  • Hunter
  • Mining
  • Runecrafting
  • Woodcutting

The total number of resources obtained in this method, is limited by the daily limit, meaning that it is possible to obtain your full daily resource total from outside of the battlefield. Although this will take substantially longer to achieve.

Depositing Resources

In order to contribute to your faction, you must deposit any gathered divine tears at your faction's deposit point. Simply left-click the deposit point to move all of your gathered tears into the collection point.

From here, the amount of tears you contributed will go towards the following three things:

  • Personal contribution - 1/10th the divine tears handed in. This will update the faction's score by the same amount.
  • Renown - The full amount of divine tears handed in.
  • Votes - 1/10th the divine tears handed in.

For example, if you hand in 200 divine tears you will have a personal contribution of 20, 200 renown and 20 votes.

Contribution to your faction does not crossover should you change your allegiance. Although your contribution is removed from your record, it does not affect the score of your original faction.

Helping Duke Horacio

Helping Duke Horacio
Helping Duke Horacio

The Duke of Lumbridge is responding to the war effort with the emergency treasury of 160,000 coins. As an upstanding member of the adventuring community, you are invited to weigh up the various options the Duke could take to address individual problems, and cast your vote for its resolution.

Participants may vote once per issue (one issue per week) and be rewarded for doing so with bonus XP which will be used up as you skill. You can vote via the lectern in Duke Horacio's room which is situated on the first floor of Lumbridge Castle, or by speaking to the Duke himself.

At the end of the vote, the winning option is implemented and the face of Lumbridge is slightly altered.

There are currently 0 coins left in the emergency treasury.

Specific situations will be listed when they are released.

Items in bold are the winners of their voting sessions.

Random Events

At any time, a random event can take place on the battlefield. Every 5 minutes each faction has a chance to trigger a random event. Both sides can trigger a random event at once, but not the same one for each side.

When the event begins, a warning will appear in the chat box for both factions.

Event Description
Rockfall Divine tear rocks fly from the centre of the crater. Shadows appear at several dozen points on the battlefield; after a few seconds, the rocks fall onto these spots and deal heavy damage to any player standing there. Once fallen, the rocks remain briefly and players can mine divine shards which can be handed in at the collection points. They are the equivalent of 30 divine tears and only can only mined once. To gain more, before the rock vanishes, the shard must be handed in first.
Bombardment This event can only occur once a faction has siege units unlocked. A wave of projectiles is fired onto the battlefield, hitting up to ten enemy NPCs for 30% of their health if this attack would not kill them and all surrounding enemy targets for 10% of their health if this attack would not kill them.
God's favour All the faction's troops take 15% less damage from all sources for 30 seconds. An icon will show in the event interface when this is active God's favour.
God's curse All the faction's troops deal 15% less damage for 30 seconds. An icon will show in the event interface when this is active God's curse.
Obelisks The faction's obelisk begins to glow; after a delay, any enemy faction player remaining within proximity is repeatedly zapped for small amounts of damage. Lasts 30 seconds.
Unstable nodes Several resource nodes glow a different colour for 30 seconds. Gathering from them gives no resources and causes 10% of the player's maximum health in damage.
Unstable nodes 2 Several resource nodes glow a brighter shade of green for 30 seconds. Gathering from them gives triple resources but causes 1% of the player's maximum health in damage.
Unstable nodes 3 Several resource nodes turn silver. Gathering from them will grant sacred metal fragments instead of the usual shards.
Healer incursion Healers enter the battlefield and begin healing friendly troops. Killing them rewards their killer with 50% extra divine tears.
Gatherer incursion Gatherers enter the battlefield and begin gathering from resource nodes. Once it has gathered five times, it returns to the camp and the faction score increases by a small amount. Killing the minion awards a large sum of divine tears.
Minelayer incursion Minelayers enter the battlefield and attempt to place mines, after which they become regular minions. Mines deal heavy damage to enemy players and NPCs. Killing a Minelayer allows the player to loot the mine and place it, turning it to their faction and dealing heavy damage to elite and siege units.
Sharpshooter incursion Sharpshooters enter the battlefield and fire crippling shots at enemy players. Killing them rewards their killer with 50% extra divine tears.
Thief incursion Thieves enter the battlefield and attempt to pickpocket minions of divine tears. After 5 picks they return to the camp and deposit the resources. Killing them rewards their killer with extra resource based on their successful picks.
Power surge For a 30 second period all gathering and killing is worth 15% more divine tears. An icon will show in the event interface when this is active Power surge.
Gas Leak Patches of gas appear near cracks on the battlefield; for 30 seconds, standing in the gas applies a random buff from the event reward shop.

JMod Events

At specified times - set by our Community Engagement team - clones of several JMods will appear on the battle field across all worlds. These JMods sport banners decreeing their allegiance and will attack members of the opposite faction who are within their reach (favouring other JMod clones, and then other NPCs).

Take them down or stand by and watch them wreak havoc while shouting out a very strange battle-cry.

JMods may also activate an hour-long event where Zamorakian or Saradominist banners spawn throughout the event. Picking one of these up and equipping one will provide a bonus to those around you who are on your god's side.

Voting

Voting Interface
Voting Interface

As you hand in divine tears, you accumulate votes. These votes can be spent on buffs and upgrades to your faction, as well as methods to sabotage the other faction. However, only the most popular choice will win the vote and votes can come from anyone on your faction who contributes tears.

The voting interface is accessed by right-clicking the deposit point and choosing 'vote'. You will see how many votes you have to assign in the top-right corner, and the two options (and the total votes each option has received so far) in the middle of the interface. At the very bottom you will see how long the vote has left.

To vote, click the 'vote' button below the option you'd like to see, choose how many votes you'd like to assign, then press confirm.

There are two types of event that can be voted for: reinforcements and buffs.

Mod Daezhun's clone ( Level Varies | Weak to weak to slash.gif ) Mod Moltare's clone ( Level Varies | Weak to weak to fire.gif )
Mod Daezhun's clone
Mod Daezhun is a master of the finest quality of comedy you'll ever be likely to hear. His clone on the other hand...
Mod Moltare's clone
Green eyes, brown hair, triangular grin. Don't touch this one - you don't know where he's been.
Mod Raven's clone ( Level Varies | Weak to weak to arrows.gif ) Mod Rocket's clone ( Level Varies | Weak to weak to fire.gif )
Mod Raven's clone
Each of Mod Raven's clones thinks he is the real Mod Raven, they look like Raven and they think they are Raven. Masters of science and sorcery, you might think these clones are a dangerous rip off of another megalomaniac, but they look totally different so I think we're okay. Rumours that he has created himself to be more powerful that the other JMod clones are entirely untrue...please ignore all evidence to the contrary.
Mod Rocket's clone
The real Mod Rocket is well known for his "Rocket Challenges". Will you provide his clone with a combat challenge?
Zamorak's JMod Army
Mod Crow's clone ( Level Varies | Weak to weak to arrows.gif ) Mod Jane's clone ( Level Varies | Weak to weak to slash.gif )

Mod Jane's clone
It seems that Mod Jane's sunny personality hasn't quite been transferred to this clone. It is aggressive and determined to win in Zamorak's name, at any cost. Or perhaps Jane has always had this competitive side?
Mod Michelle's clone ( Level Varies | Weak to weak to fire.gif ) Mod Sabre's clone ( Level Varies | Weak to weak to slash.gif )
Mod Michelle's clone
You will probably hear Mod Michelle's clone before you see her. Her battle cries will chill the soul of all, even those with the strongest will. Could it be that something went wrong with the cloning process? Or does the real Mod Michelle call out across the office with the frightening sound of a portal traveling, leg wiggling, amulet finding, tongue wrapping unicorn? And what exactly does shoip mean anyway?
Mod Sabre's clone
Mod Sabre is always up for trying new things so when he heard the cloning experiments were taking part he volunteered straight away. As with the other JMod clones, the process may not have gone entirely without issue as, given that Mod Sabre is known for his nocturnal nature, his clone seems to come out in the sunlight.

Saradominist champion

The zamorakian champion may look like a lesser demon but do not be fooled, this creature has been around for a long time and his abilities and prowess are a force to be reckoned with.

Seige Units

Saradominist colossus ( Level Varies | No weakness ) Zamorakian siege beast ( Level Varies | No weakness )
Saradominst colossus
Standing at the back of the battlefield, the colossus towers over its surroundings. This massive construct was built for one purpose: to hurl magic infused boulders at the enemy. But don't let this fool you, get in too close and you will see the colossus from an entirely new angle as you are crushed beneath his feet.
Zamorakian siege beast
Zamorakians are not known for keeping back out of the fray, but this beast has better ways of causing destruction than charging into battle without a thought. From its position on the battlefield, the siege beast can launch massive balls of flame at its enemies, taking them out before they reach him. Anyone who gets too close will see its beady eyes before the beast's flaming breath sears the flesh from their bones.

Elite Units

Saradominist prideleader ( Level Varies | No weakness ) Zamorakian butcher demon ( Level Varies | No weakness )
Saradominist prideleader
This armoured feline beast can be seen bounding across the battlefield, tearing into its enemies with tooth and claw in the name of Saradomin.
Zamorakian butcher demon
This greater demon was not given his name on a whim. His large sword will cleave the limbs off anyone foolish enough to get in his way.

Rewards

When you hand in divine tears to your faction you will receive renown. This is the currency you'll use to purchase rewards. You will also earn personal contribution which is used to determine how well some of your rewards function.

Some rewards are locked until later weeks in the world event, others are locked until you have deposited a specific amount of tears for your faction.

Token of Fealty

When you first choose a side, you will be given a bronze token of fealty by your faction's recruiter. This token offers various bonuses within the event and it improves as your personal contribution increases.

Note that if you change faction, as well as your personal contribution being reset, your token will also be reset.

There are five tiers which are reached at the current total renown levels:

Padomenes and Moia may also be interested in discussing matters with players who have achieved the higher fealty ranks in their respective factions...

Requisitions

Requisitions Interface
Requisitions Interface

Speaking to your faction's quartermaster, you will be able to access the requisitions interface. Here you can exchange your renown for armour, emotes, titles, XP lamps, weapon overrides and consumable items.

There are three tiers of all items in the quartermaster's stores, and a new tier is unlocked every few weeks (tier 2 is unlocked on week 4, tier 3 is unlocked on week 7) giving you plenty of time to get enough renown for your purchases.

Some items require you to hold a certain position within your faction. This is indicated by what token you hold. Until you have upgraded your token of fealty to the required level, you will not be able to purchase some items, even if you have enough renown to purchase them otherwise.

Note that the warpriest armour has a set bonus. If wearing three or more pieces, there is a 1% chance per piece (starting at 3% for three pieces up to a total of 6% for the full set) whenever you take damage, that the damage is reduced to 10% of the original damage.

Cosmetic Rewards

There is a chance for you to earn cosmetic overrides for some of your weapons while battling the NPCs on the battlefield. These are themed in your factions colours and style. Although you cannot get these items without taking part in the event, these items are not rewards purchasable from the shop as they are not obtained through spending renown.

The cosmetic overrides must be assembled using weapon parts and 1000 sacred metal fragments all of which are dropped by the NPCs that you kill on the battlefield.
