Trolls are brutes of massive size, and minuscule intellect. Trolls vastly vary in appearance across Gielinor, mostly due to their intriguing ability to take on the characteristics of the terrain in which they inhabit, or in some cases something they have eaten. Trolls are most often named for the first thing that it eats (or, if they do not know what to call that first meal, they may be named for the noise the meal made). This method of naming can have some fairly amusing results, but trolls are not noted for their sense of humour, so it's best if you keep the joke to yourself.

Types of Troll

Mountain Troll

The most populous type of troll is the mountain troll. These lumbering beings live in the mountainous regions of Runescape, mostly to the north of Burthorpe, in the mountains known as Trollheim. The mountain trolls take on the characteristics of the mountains, becoming hard and strong, with stone teeth and jaws, and rocks protruding from their skin.

Ice Troll

The ice troll is perhaps the second most populous class of troll. These trolls typically live further north in the Trollheim mountains where the temperature drops to below freezing. (They can also be found on the Fremennik Isles.) These trolls take on the characteristics of the icy north, becoming pale and cold, and growing yeti-like fur, with icicles protruding from their bodies.
