Vampyres are members of the ruling race of Morytania, always seeking out unwary humans in order to drain their blood; in combat they will sometimes try to do this in order to drain your combat skills. Vampyres are especially prevalent in the Haunted Woods east of Canifis, but they can also be found around the entrance to Mort Ridge Mine near Burgh de Rott.

Stronger vampyres can be found fighting for Zamorak within the God Wars Dungeon.

Vampyres appear to have at least three forms: human form (looks like a regular human, but with fangs and a sickly colour), vapour form (just mist), and bat form (looks like a large bat-like creature with horns). Vyrewatch also have a subhuman form, which is a cross between the two. Vampyres do not die of old age, or of natural causes. Contrary to popular opinion, they are not the undead, so the Salve Amulet has no effect on them.
